Alpha and Omega: The Jesus I Need to Know | Week 8 “Our Complete Savior”
Finding Your Way: Jesus as Our Complete Savior
Deep Dive Devotional – Week 8 of the Alpha and Omega Series
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.”
- John 14:1-9
Finding Direction When Life Feels Uncertain
Have you ever used your phone’s GPS and suddenly lost signal? That moment of uncertainty—when you’re not sure which way to turn—can feel unsettling. In life, we often experience similar moments of disorientation. We face crossroads, unexpected detours, and paths that seem to lead nowhere.
In John 14, we find the disciples in a similar state. Jesus had just told them He was leaving, and they felt lost, confused, and depleted. These feelings are universal to our human experience. The good news is that Jesus doesn’t just sympathize with our struggles—He offers Himself as the complete solution.
When We Feel Lost: He is the Way
When Thomas admitted, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”—he expressed what we all feel at times. Life’s path isn’t always clearly marked. Career decisions, relationship challenges, health concerns—these can all leave us wondering which direction to take.
Jesus responds with profound simplicity: “I am the way.” Not just a way, or one option among many, but THE way. This isn’t about a set of directions but a relationship with a person. When we follow Jesus, we’re never truly lost. He doesn’t just point the way—He IS the way.
What does this mean for you today? When you feel directionless, remember that staying close to Jesus—through prayer, worship, and obedience—is itself the journey. You don’t need to figure everything out. You simply need to follow Him one step at a time.
When We Feel Confused: He is the Truth
Our world offers countless competing “truths.” Social media, news outlets, friends, family—everyone has an opinion about how we should live. This information overload can leave us confused and uncertain about what’s actually true.
Jesus cuts through this confusion by declaring, “I am the truth.” He doesn’t just speak truth—He embodies it. His words, life, death, and resurrection reveal God’s heart and plan for humanity with perfect clarity.
When you feel overwhelmed by conflicting voices, return to Jesus’ words in Scripture. His truth provides the clarity and direction we desperately need. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). When nothing makes sense, His truth remains constant and reliable.
When We Feel Depleted: He is the Life
Modern life can be exhausting. We run on empty, trying to meet demands from every direction. Many of us know what it’s like to feel spiritually, emotionally, and physically drained.
Jesus’ promise, “I am the life,” speaks directly to our depletion. He offers not just existence but abundant life (John 10:10). When we’re connected to Him, we tap into a source of vitality that never runs dry.
Are you feeling empty today? Turn to Jesus, who rejuvenates your spirit and restores your soul. This might mean setting aside time for rest, engaging in worship, or simply sitting quietly in His presence. As you connect with Him, His life flows into yours, bringing renewal where there was exhaustion.
Jesus: Our Complete Savior
What makes Jesus our complete Savior is that He doesn’t just address part of our need—He meets every aspect of it. Lost? He is the Way. Confused? He is the Truth. Depleted? He is the Life.
In a world of partial solutions and temporary fixes, Jesus offers Himself as the complete answer to humanity’s deepest needs. We don’t need to piece together a solution from different sources. In Him, we find everything we need.
Today, whatever challenge you’re facing, remember that Jesus isn’t just a historical figure or a good teacher. He is your complete Savior who knows exactly what you need and provides it through Himself.
