The Divine Current | Deep Dive Week 5 “The Law of the Spirit”
In Pastor Brad’s sermon on Week 5 of The Divine Current, he delved into the profound relationship between the law of the Old Testament and the law of the Spirit. He illuminated Romans 8:1-4, which reassures us that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus because the law of the Spirit of life has set us free from the law of sin and death.
The sermon emphasized that living in the Spirit of life in Christ does not render the moral code of the law obsolete. Instead, it fulfills the law through the embodiment of Christ’s love and sacrifice. The Spirit empowers us to live a life that is not bound by the letter of the law but is driven by the essence of divine love and holiness.
This divine current of the Spirit does not sweep away the call to holiness; rather, it anchors us more firmly in it. The Spirit breathes life into the commandments, transforming them from a checklist to a heartfelt response to God’s love. It is the Spirit who enables us to live out the righteousness that the law pointed towards, doing so not out of obligation, but out of a deep desire to align with God’s will.
As we reflect on this message, let us ponder the question: “Have I asked for the filling of the Holy Spirit so that I may now live in His power and not mine?”
