First Things First: Deep Dive – Week 6 “God is Life”
What does it mean to be “in Jesus”? This is a question that every Christian should ask and explore because being in Jesus is the essence of our faith and identity. In this blog post, I want to go deep into some aspects of what being in Jesus involves and how it can transform our lives. I hope you will find this engaging and encouraging and that it will inspire you to grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
Being in Jesus involves four things: following, loving, receiving, and sharing.
– To follow Jesus is to have Him as your Master and Teacher. It means to listen to His words, obey His commands, imitate His example, and trust His guidance. It also means to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him wherever He leads us. Following Jesus is not easy, but it is rewarding. He promises to be with us always, to give us rest, and to make us fishers of men.
– To love Jesus is to have Him as our Friend and Brother. It means to abide in Him as our Source and Goal for every need of this life. It also means to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love others as He loves us. Loving Jesus is not a feeling but a choice. He first loved us and gave Himself for us. He calls us His friends and invites us to share in His joy.
– To receive Jesus is to have Him as our Savior and Lord. It means to know His truth, His peace, His joy, His love, and His Spirit. It also means to accept His grace, His forgiveness, His righteousness, and His life. Receiving Jesus is not a one-time event, but a daily process. He knocks at the door of our hearts and waits for us to open. He fills us with His presence and empowers us to live for Him.
– To share Jesus is to have Him as our Hope and Glory. It means to participate in His death, resurrection, and ascension, not only through His glory but also through His suffering. It also means to proclaim His gospel, to make disciples of all nations, to serve others in His name, and to await His return. Sharing Jesus is not an option, but a mission. He commissioned us to be His witnesses, and promised to give us His authority and power.
Being in Jesus is the most wonderful thing that can happen to anyone. It is the source of our joy, peace, purpose, and fulfillment. It is the way to eternal life, which is not just a quantity of time but a quality of existence. Eternal life is fulfilled in and by the Holy Trinity.
I pray that you will experience the reality of being in Jesus more and more each day. I pray that you will follow Him faithfully, love Him wholeheartedly, receive Him gratefully, and share Him boldly. I pray that you will be “in Jesus” in every sense of the word.
Always improve the present moment.
